Created in the heart of New York City, the French Martini is a fruity take on a classic Martini. Originally conceived in a bar owned by famed NYC restaurateur Keith McNally, the cocktail began popping up on bars and restaurants cocktail list’s in the 1990s. What makes the cocktail ‘French’ is one its ingredients, Chambord, a raspberry liqueur that has been produced in France for almost 400 years. Sweet from the raspberry and tart from the pineapple juice, this cocktail has several flavors to complement a neutral spirit like vodka. When shaken properly, the cocktail produces a foamy head which provides extra flavor and is aesthetically pleasing.
Here’s the recipe:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- ½ oz Chambord
Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake very well. Strain into a martini glass. No garnish necessary, but you can always use a lemon twist!
